2 Chronicles 7:14
We rejoice to know that we are the people of God, called by His name. We are special and unique in the earth. God's purpose is to be done through us as we live out our lives to His glory. We belong to Christ, which means, we no longer live to fulfill our desires and dreams, but we live to do the will and purpose of God. There is great benefit and blessings awaiting us when we seek God. The Hebrew writer tells us, But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6). We seek Him because He is the sustainer of our lives. He gives us direction, inspiration, and salvation. He is our immovable foundation that steadies our soul when the storms of life are pounding against us.
God gave King Solomon a great encouragement as he asked for His favor and mercies. His prayer was for God to bless the temple that was being dedicated to His glory and for Him to hear and receive the prayers of the people that they would offer up.
GOD GIVES SOLOMON A VISITATION
And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer- (2 Chron. 7:12). That's what we want! a confirmation from God that He has heard our prayers. A Word that assures our troubled hearts that God is working on our behalf. As we are seeking God, we want Him to show up in our troubles and unleash His power; but not just for the things we want Him to do. Lord, I want to experience Your glory and Your presence. I want to come closer because You have bid me to come. When thou saidst, seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord will I seek (Psalm 27:8).
There are 4 major things that we learn from 2 Chron. 7:14, that we are to do, and we can have the EXCITEMENT OF EXPECTATION, that God will do 3 things.
OUR PART:
humble ourselves - where we voluntarily surrender and submit ourselves under the mighty hand of God.
pray - enter into communion and fellowship with God; where we converse with Him, and open our hearts to hear His Word.
seek His face - earnestly desiring to experience closeness with Him, to know Him better.
turn from our wicked ways - which involves repentance and forsaking sin.
GOD'S PART:
He will hear from heaven - God already knows our needs, but describes Himself as eagerly listening to our prayers.
He will forgive our sin - His faithful response to our sincere repentance.
He will heal our land - God will respond to the prayers of His people by bringing healing, deliverance, and revival to our land.
Let us continue to seek God in His precious Word, praying, fasting, and reaching for Him. He's paying close attention to us; The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry (Psalm 34:15).
